Why I Moved to Amsterdam and What that means for Faroluna

As of August 23rd, I am officially a resident of Amsterdam! How exciting!

Since my move, I have been getting this question a lot: why did you move to Amsterdam?

It’s a great question. So I figured I should answer it.

I moved to Amsterdam because my husband got accepted into a Master’s of Divinity program at a seminary here. He will be studying theology for the next three years. So at least for the next three years, we will call Amsterdam home. Before this, we were living in Chicago.

The second question I often get when I talk about our move is this one: what is going to happen with your luxury travel company?

The answer is: a lot of exciting things!

One reason why travel advisors thrive is because we KNOW the suppliers personally. If you want a hotel, or a car service, or you need to book a tour, or you want a really good restaurant to go to, then we know people who can provide that service. Not only that, we know who can provide the BEST service. This is why we go further than tools like Google or Booking.com (no shade on either one of those! They are great tools!)

So for the next three years, one thing that I will be focusing on is getting to know suppliers in Europe very personally. I plan to visit as many luxury hotels in Europe as possible, and get trained with as many European suppliers as I can. I also plan to travel within Europe often, since that will also give me great knowledge on European destinations.

This is a HUGE opportunity for me to gain invaluable knowledge. It is also a huge opportunity for the business.

I also hope to visit suppliers in Africa! You guys knew it was coming, y’all know I’m obsessed with it! Haha

I do not know yet when that would happen. For right now I am establishing connections around Europe first. But, I have three years! That should be plenty of time.

I will be documenting all of my travels on my Instagram page, so make sure you’re following me!
